Complete the New Student Orientation

The online new student orientation will help you better understand IDEA, give tips and information on how to be successful in your online classes, and provide you the opportunity to explore different learning management systems.

The orientation is broken down into modules and will take about 30-45 minutes to complete. You can start, stop, and restart the orientation at any time.

Choose Your Courses

To view the projected schedule of courses in your program and get a feel for what you can expect, visit the IDEA Course Planner. While the course planner is an excellent tool, your academic advisor is your best resource when choosing classes.

Once you’ve selected courses with your academic advisor, officially enroll through the student information system at your home university. Your campus coordinator can help you navigate the system. Learn more about the unique enrollment process for IDEA students.

By offering an array of courses, students are connected with a variety of qualified faculty that strive to provide the best online learning environment and create relationships with their students. IDEA Student Awards

Looking for additional financial support as you pursue your academic journey through IDEA? Check out the IDEA Student Excellence Award. The IDEA Student Excellence Award, supported by the IDEA Cabinet, is granted to a select number of students annually. This $1,000 award may be used for educational expenses such as tuition and books, or towards other costs of attendance like childcare or educational technology.

Alison Eddy smiles while holding her baby with husband next to them."The ability to continue my education while working full-time and growing my family has been a huge benefit for me. Earning the Student Excellence Award will greatly benefit my family as we begin our lives with our new daughter because we can use it to pay for the rest of my tuition and will not have to budget in finishing my degree."

Additional Support

Disability Support Services

IDEA is dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere for every student. We understand that navigating accommodation procedures at universities can feel overwhelming initially, but rest assured, we're here to assist you every step of the way! Explore our Disability Support Services webpage for guidance and support.

Student Complaint Resolution

IDEA universities are dedicated to addressing student concerns promptly and efficiently. We aim to resolve differences through informal communication that encourages open expression within an atmosphere of courtesy, sensitivity, and mutual respect. If an agreement cannot be reached, formal grievance procedures are accessible at all participating universities.

Check out the student handbook for further information on both informal and formal complaint and grievance procedures.

Person of Concern Policy

Do you have any worries about the welfare or security of an IDEA student, faculty, or staff member? If you notice something, don't hesitate to speak up. The vigilance of every member of our community is crucial in maintaining safety. We can't address a situation unless we know about it, so it's essential to report any concerns, no matter how small they may seem. Read more about our Person of Concern Policy in the student handbook.

For additional mental health resources visit the Life and Health section of the Student Success Center. Also, check with your home university to see what resources they offer to faculty, staff, and students.
