Newly Admitted Students

Congratulations!  You've been selected to join an elite group of students.  We've provided a checklist to help you prepare for your educational journey.

Get acquainted with your program.

To view the projected schedule of courses in your program, visit the Course Planner. Check it often for updates. While the course planner is an excellent tool, your academic advisor is your best resource when choosing classes.

Nervous about getting started. This video provides two important approaches to learning online that will help you be successful in IDEA programs.

Prepare financially.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance and/or the Military and Veteran’s Affairs Office on your campus can help you plan for investing in your education. If you're applying for financial aid, you'll want to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Our tuition and cost page has additional resources to help you complete the FAFSA.

Complete new student tasks.

Your campus coordinator can help you complete the required new student activities:

Connect with your academic advisor.

Your academic advisor assists you with all academic decisions from course selection to planning your path to graduation.

If you're feeling a little overwhelmed, this video provides one piece of important advice - don't be afraid to ask questions!

Enroll in classes.

Once you’ve selected courses with your academic advisor, officially enroll through the student information system at your home university. Your campus coordinator can help you navigate the system.  Visit our Enrollment webpage to learn more about the unique enrollment process for IDEA students.

Complete the IDEA New Student Orientation.

The online new student orientation will help you better understand IDEA, give tips and information on how to be successful in your online classes, and provide you the opportunity to explore different learning management systems.

The orientation is broken down into modules and will take about 30-45 minutes to complete. You can start, stop, and restart the orientation at any time.
