Biography

Axton Betz-Hamilton, Ph.D., AFC™ is an assistant professor and undergraduate program coordinator of consumer affairs at South Dakota State University.  Her research focuses on financial abuse within families, including familial identity theft and financial exploitation of older adults by family members. She has worked as a military personal financial counselor.

In addition to earning a doctorate in human development and family studies from Iowa State University in 2012, Betz-Hamilton completed the graduate certificate in family financial planning offered by IDEA in 2017 in order to be eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner™ exam.
