Biography
John Guretzky is an associate professor and grassland systems ecologist in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has a 60 percent research and 40 percent teaching appointment.
His current research focuses on the impacts of interseeding legumes and summer annuals in pasture plant communities. He teaches an undergraduate course in forage crop and pasture management and graduate courses in forage quality and forage evaluation.
Before joining UNL, Guretzky served as a research agronomist at the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation in Ardmore, Okla., from 2006 to 2009 and postdoctoral assistant with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in Champaign, Ill., from 2003 to 2006. He received a doctorate in agronomy from Iowa State University in 2002 and his Bachelor of Science in natural resources from UNL in 1996. Professional memberships include the American Society of Agronomy and Crop Science Society of America.
