Biography

Locke A. Karriker is a professor and interim chair of the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. He holds the ISU Gustafson Professorship for Teaching Excellence in Veterinary Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, admitted by examination in August 2006.

His research focuses on diagnosis and treatment of swine disease, swine pharmacology and therapeutics, and swine preventive medicine. He received the ISU Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching in 2015. He received the 2014 Howard Dunne Memorial Award given annually to an American Association of Swine Veterinarians member who has made a significant contribution and rendered outstanding service to the organization and the swine industry.

He was the faculty member of the year for the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and received the Dr. William O. Reece Award for Outstanding Academic Advising for the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University named him the alumnus of the year in 2012.
