Michael Criss

Michael Criss is an associate professor of human development at Oklahoma State University. He typically teaches the undergraduate courses about lifespan development, adolescent development, and parenting and a graduate course about behavior problems.

His research area primarily focuses on developmental psychopathology, particularly the development of antisocial behavior during middle childhood and adolescence. Criss also focuses on the developmental change in parenting and parent-child relationship quality and factors that are related to such change. Some of his recent studies examined positive peer relationships as protective factors for at-risk children, predictors and outcome of parenting during adolescence, and predictors and outcomes of emotion regulation during adolescence in high-risk, low-income families.
