Sheree Moser

Sheree Moser is a lifelong family and consumer sciences (FCS) teacher. She taught FCS in middle and high school for 20 years, followed by eight years in a curriculum-related leadership position with Lincoln Public Schools. She has worked at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 2009.

Moser currently teaches and coordinates the FCS Education program for undergraduates and graduates. She oversees all methods, curriculum, practicum, student teaching experiences for on-campus students, and all IDEA graduate-level courses offered online.

To promote and build the FCS education program at UNL, Moser works with the college department, Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers of Nebraska, and the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to recruit at conferences and mentor new teachers throughout the state and nation. Since 2011, she has worked with the Nebraska Department of Education to track open FCS teaching positions, establish the Retired FCS Teacher Network, and support a Future FCS Teacher Dinner. Enrollment in the on-campus programs has increased by over 300% and overall 850% because of these efforts. She currently serves as the UNL student advisor for the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and is an advocate for the FCCLA student organization. 

Moser’s additional professional experiences include working with at-risk and marginalized youth, diverse populations, and a wide variety of community organizations. She has helped establish a number of initiatives to benefit these groups, including a childcare program for high school pregnant and parenting teens, the ProStart Restaurant Association program, and the implementation of a district-wide culinary competition benefiting all seven high schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. She also participated in the student-parent program, coordinating curriculum for FCS, and the LPS Culinary Competition, which is in its 15th year.

Moser earned her doctorate through the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education within the Carnegie Program for the Educational Doctorate at UNL. Her dissertation is titled “Struggling Student Teachers: Interventions for Support and Success,” which included case studies of two struggling students, as well as faculty interviews with the other Career and Technical Education programs at UNL. Future research will be focused on struggling student teachers, as well as improving practices for preparing high-quality FCS professionals.
