Biography
Soo-Young Hong is an associate professor in the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her doctorate in child development and family studies from Purdue University.
Hong teaches courses related to child development and early childhood education including Human Development and the Family, Theories of Human Development and Family Relations, and Using a Policy Framework to Examine Early Childhood Services and Issues. She also teaches a course about college teaching and supports doctoral students in building their knowledge and skills to become an effective educator.
Hong’s research focuses on early childhood professional development in the areas of science education and preschool inclusion. She is interested in studying effective ways to engage early childhood professionals and children in science learning. She is also interested in promoting children’s acceptance of peers with disabilities and their educators’ capacity to support children with varying levels of abilities.
