It is surrounded by five mountain ranges: the Bridger, Tobacco Root, Big Belt, Gallatin, and Madison ranges. Two ski areas nearby offer 7,750 acres of downhill skiing. The Bridger Bowl is 20 minutes from campus, and the Big Sky Resort is 60 minutes from campus.
